A mere 365 days ago my world was pretty much in chaos.
Not long before, I had gotten back from Florida from visiting my parents for Christmas. My dad was trying his best to be festive and have good days, but it was a struggle. The day after we left he went back into the hospital for another extended stay and we had lost count of tracking which number this one was.
Not long before, I had decided to leap. To push this business to see what it could do. To see what I could do. Scared at the possibilities both good and bad, I threw myself into the business side and anything that I could control. To make sure it was right. To give me my foundation. I was after all kickstarting myself at one of the slowest times of the year. Business wouldn’t be pounding at my door, but I wanted to make sure I was set for a time when it would.
That was 12 months ago. A lot has happened since that time. Bad, good, and really good. So much has progressed to where I am now and to where I’m set to go in 2012. I’ve been looking back at 2011 with mixed emotions, trying to focus on those “really good” parts. Part of those good moments have been all of you. My friends. My clients. My clients-become-friends. I know I’ve been changed and I know my photography had changed. For the better. So I want to highlight the 11 images that have helped make my 2011. They’re some of my favorites either because of how they look, for what I overcame, for what I learned, or just for who they are. They make me smile. Thanks for making me smile as I’ve tried to make you smile! Cheers to 2011 and to an even better 2012!
(I was going to just do 11 overall images but it’s been too hard to narrow down! So I’ll start with 11 Portraits of 2011. I’ll do the weddings in my next post.)
Thank you for visiting the blog today! Let me know you were here by leaving a comment below and letting me know what your favorite portrait image was the past year!
