Amy wanted a wow factor. According to Nathan’s mom, Amy wanted something different and memorable for their wedding day. And oh yes I’d say they got that in so many ways!
Very early on in their planning they decided to do a brunch wedding. Let me just say, it was amazing. Everyone loves breakfast, right? Plus I loved having clean natural light for the entire day. (Side note, I was totally home and in yoga pants by 7:30p too!)
Amy and Nathan also got something different by picking the Farm Retreat at Willow Creek as their location. It’s a newer venue in Culpeper, VA and it’s totally charming with its rustic and relaxed feel. I love that they built an entire platform for reception dancing too! I’ve never seen another place that has something like that!
As if the venue wasn’t enough, Nathan’s mom outdid herself with all the decor planning! There were thoughtful decor stations and signs every where that just added to the welcoming feel of the day. I can’t imagine how full their house was of lanterns, candles, and other decorations though as they prepared.
Lastly, Amy and Nathan’s day was definitely memorable by the weather forecast. Some guests reported snow and hail storms as they came in. Um, keep in mind we’re in April!! After storms passed it was supposed to kick into 30-40 mph winds. The wedding was all outside and I was secretly dying inside wondering how we were going to shoot gorgeous portraits of them without being blown away! Luckily, so very luckily, NONE of the weather factors were anything we had to worry about. Yes it was a little colder than we would have liked, but the sun did bring warmth and that wind held off until much later in the day.
So to Amy and Nathan, thank you so much for allowing me to help celebrate and document another Knox wedding and I wish you both all the best in your new marriage!
Enjoy some of the amazingness of their wedding at the Farm Retreat at Willow Creek!
