When it comes to a couple’s wedding day, I usually have a pretty good idea what’s going to happen. Of course I know where it is and am familiar with how things will be set up and where they’ll be. We would have talked about the timeline and scheduled the day’s different events appropriately. I have a general sense of their décor and style and what’s in store for everyone.
I have to say, though, that Julia and Andy each both threw me for a loop and left me in complete surprise at different parts of the day. I should clarify these were fun surprises! Nothing that left me worried about doing my job.
First, if you saw their engagement photos, you might remember that they were done just a few short weeks before the wedding day. You might also remember that Andy had long hair. Nope, not on the wedding day! My first thought was “does Julia know”? I wondered if this would be a surprise to her too. Thankfully it was not.
The second surprise happened just before their First Look. I was meeting Julia in the lobby of Lansdowne Resort so I could guide her to where Andy was waiting for her. As I stood at the elevators, I could hear chatty girls coming down and knew it was Julia and her bridesmaids. What I didn’t know was that she would step out in the most gorgeous jewel-toned emerald green wedding dress! When I asked her about it, she said she had asked Andy at one point what he envisioned her wearing as she came down the aisle if he had his dream wedding. He responded that she’d have on a green dress. Julia thought about it for a bit and decided to run with it! Not only was it beautiful on her, but it totally matched the family tartan that Andy chose to wear! (As a side note, Julia also had an incredible gold lace gown for the reception, so you’ll have to check that one out too!)
So enjoy the dresses and all the other highlights below from Julia and Andy’s Scottish wedding at Lightfoot restaurant!
