“I know more than anyone what it is to be thankful. For life. For love. For joy. And to be here with you and God today.”
These were some of the opening words that the bride’s grandfather spoke at the beginning of Kristin and Ehren’s wedding ceremony. He is a retired pastor and has officiated the wedding of all his children and grandchildren. So it was understandably important to Kristin that he be the one to marry her too, but it was very uncertain if it would happen. You see, he was diagnosed with cancer recently and his prognosis isn’t great. He got very sick when treatments began and is still in a rehabilitation center to recover. But he was granted special permission to leave for the day to attend their wedding. Kristin only found out we would actually be coming just before the service started! It was really emotional and so special to everyone that he was able to continue the family’s tradition. And even though the rain moved the wedding inside, the rest unfolded just as it should have! Gosh, I’m getting teary eyed again just writing this!
The rest of the wedding was definitely a celebration and the band was awesome at keeping everyone on the dance floor! Kristin and Ehren passed on a traditional cake and opted instead for a s’mores bar with custom marshmallow flavors! So much fun happened all night long, so let’s get to the pretty pictures!
